ABOUT THE NOVA SCOTIA DUCK TOLLING RETRIEVER

The Nova Scotia Duck Tolling Retriever, know as tollers, are a medium-sized dog that has a foxlike appearance with a vibrant red coat, white markings, and a feathery tail.  Their athetic build and agile nature make them good candidates for dog sports including obedience, agility, dock diving, and frisbee. 

Temperament - Tollers are friendly, affectionate, and sociable dogs that bond closely with their family members.  They are high energy and require significant amounts of exercise, both physical and mental, to keep them healthy and happy.   Without this, they may find entertainment elsewhere by decoming destructive around the house.  

Tollers are intelligent and eager to please, making them easy to train.  They respond well to positive reinforcement, treats, and praise.  Starting training while they are still puppies can help them get into a good routine.  They are perfect companions for activie individuals or families. These active dogs are always up for playtime, exercising, and joining their families on adventures.  

Tollers are a hunting and retriever breed.  This is evident in their lively and alert natrue.  They may retain a prey drive and may chase smaller animals.
